Planning, Admissions & Transport

The Planning, Admissions & Transport section makes sure that there is a sufficient supply of school places to accommodate the children who need them. We collect and process data on school capacities and occupancy, so that we can make an accurate forecast of future need.

We ensure that parents are able to express a preference for the school they wish to attend, and we provide a mechanism for appeal, if parents’ preferences cannot be met. We work in partnership with neighbouring Authorities, Walsall Academy and the Governing Bodies of Voluntary Aided schools to make sure parents receive one offer of a school place when their children transfer to secondary schools.

We arrange transport for pupils who need help getting to school, either because they have mobility difficulties or other special needs. We also make transport arrangements for any pupils who live a long distance from their nearest appropriate school.
