Eight of our schools have received outstanding Grade 1 Ofsted reports: “We are absolutely thrilled with the inspection report. We have a strong focus on inclusion and strive to maintain a high profile throughout the community.” Kay Mills, Headteacher at Oakwood School Educational performance has improved significantly in recent years at all Key Stages and at GCSE and A Level. For 5-7 year olds our schools are now above the national average. In 2006 50% of our pupils gained 5 or more GCSEs at grades A*-C, compared with 37% six years ago. Every secondary school has specialist college status; something achieved in only a handful of areas nationally. This status attracts additional funding allowing the school to provide a broad range of learning around its specialism. Specialisms include business and enterprise, languages, sports, science and health. Walsall has 120 schools, a mix of community, foundation, church and special schools, catering for the needs of all our children and young people. |
